At Valley Dental Group, we work hard to make sure our patients feel completely comfortable in their dental restorations. Our prosthodontist and team often work with patients who are frustrated with wearing standard dentures. In response, Dr. George Eifler often refers them to implant-supported dentures as a stable, restorative treatment. At our office, we trust All-on-4® implants as a reliable variety of implant-retained dentures. If you are interested in this treatment, schedule your consultation for implant-supported dentures in Phoenix, Arizona, by calling 602-956-2260.
The procedure for placing implant-supported dentures is generally similar to that for placing traditional dentures. First, the gum tissue is prepared and impressions are made of the mouth. Next, the implants are placed into the jawbone and allowed to heal. Once healing is complete, the abutments are placed onto the implants and checked for fit. Finally, the denture base is created and the denture teeth are set into place. The entire denture is checked for fit and adjusted as necessary.
Implant-supported dentures offer many benefits over traditional dentures, including increased stability and better chewing function. In addition, they can help to preserve the jawbone and prevent deterioration. Other benefits include:
- Increased stability and comfort — Implant-supported dentures are much more stable than traditional dentures, making them more comfortable to wear. They also do not slip or move around like traditional dentures can, making it easier to eat and speak.
- Improved oral health — Because implant-supported dentures do not rest on the gums, they allow for better oral hygiene. This can lead to improved overall oral health.
- Natural look and feel — Implant-supported dentures look and feel very natural. They are custom made to fit each patient’s mouth, so they blend in well with your natural teeth.
